Google has made an important update by launching its Quick Share app for devices powered by ARM architecture that are running Windows 11 or newer. Previously, the app was limited to traditional Windows devices, lacking compatibility for ARM systems, which necessitated complex workarounds for users. With this new release, sharing and receiving various types of files such as photos, documents, and more between nearby Android devices and Windows computers—especially the latest Snapdragon X Elite laptops—has become much more straightforward.

Quick Share for ARM Devices

Google has announced that the Quick Share app is now available for manual download from the official Android website for ARM devices featuring Windows 11. Users are granted the ability to share a wide array of content including images, videos, documents, audio files, or even entire folders between Android gadgets and Windows desktops or laptops.

Users can decide if they want their devices to be visible only to themselves, to selected friends, or to everyone around. All transfers conducted using Quick Share are reportedly protected through end-to-end encryption, ensuring that user privacy remains intact. The technology firm indicated that Quick Share comes pre-installed on devices operating Android 6 or later, while Windows users will need to download the app separately.

Per the information available, Quick Share is now accessible for users. The FAQ section on the Android website confirms that ARM devices are officially supported. Nonetheless, there are claims suggesting that, even with ARM support, Quick Share is not fully ARM64-native and operates through emulation instead.

This update follows a recent release for Quick Share on the Windows platform that primarily addressed bugs rather than introducing new features. This update, which carried version number 1.0.2002.2, resolved several user-reported issues, including those related to wireless LAN promotions, Wi-Fi Hotspot functionality, the Quick Share shortcut icon, system configuration settings, and instances of the app crashing. These improvements indicate a persistent effort to enhance the user experience for Quick Share.
